The Prayer Warrior

In 2015, my Dad was in a nursing home, on hospice.  On my daily “Dad” visits, I also visited with the Alzheimer’s patient in the room next door.

She was confused, delusional, very angry and hurting from a leg injury that made her immobile.  This precious soul shared that her husband was a retired Assembly of God pastor and she was a lifelong pastor’s wife.  Due to her illness and injury, this sister in the Lord spent her days and nights complaining, disoriented, being ugly and fussing about everything.

Saddened by my Dad’s failing health, I asked if she would pray for my Dad.  My request was a prayer of release, for my Dad to be out of pain and to peacefully slip into Glorious Eternity.  Immediately, I saw the woman of God, this pastor’s wife, this ministry leader, become a woman with a call on her life.  All the anger was gone, dementia momentarily disappeared and she prayed a long, beautiful, heartfelt prayer for him and for me.  My Dad went home to be with the Lord within a few hours.

No matter what was happening in her body and mind … she was still a powerful and mighty prayer warrior.

Romans 11:29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.
