Review Mirror Love

Barney, the Wonder Dog has one job, one calling, one passion … to love me and protect me.   He is not a dog that enjoys car rides, his world begins and ends within the perimeter fence of our ranch.  I believe Barney remembers that he was dumped from a car or truck on our red dirt road many years ago, he also knows that cars or trucks take him to the veterinarian and nothing good ever happens at the vet’s office.

When I leave the ranch, I see the concerned look on his face in my review mirror of my car, he can’t go with me and he can’t protect me where I am going.  That car is going to take me outside of the safety of the ranch fences, away from his protective and watchful eyes.

When I return, the car and car tires are thoroughly inspected, and so am I.  He sniffs my shoes, my clothing and when I lean down to pet him, he sniffs my breath.   Where have I been? Were there other dogs?  What did I eat?  Did I bring him a doggie bag?

Barney’s love is the love of a shepherd, protecting the sheep … but I am his only sheep.  This kind of love and devotion is a constant miracle to me.  God shows the depth of His love and constant protection, using this dog, a dog that was a gift from Him.  Because … Every good and perfect gift is from the Lord. James 1:17.

God has used this dog to help me love and accept myself, to overcome heartaches as well as internal insecurities.  It is hard to be insecure, feel unloved or unlovely when a dog thinks the world begins, ends and revolves around you. I am God’s masterpiece.

Ephesians 2:10  For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
