Pure Joy

After a long fun day, we got back to the ranch after dark, but we were not met by our tail wagging welcoming committee.

My heart skipped a beat … where were BeBe and Barney, the Wonder Dog???

I hollered,  BeBe finally came, alone. Thinking Barney was slower, I prayed to see his white fur and curled tail heading for the house…but no sign of him.

Then I heard gunshots or maybe fireworks, lots of loud explosions, very close … had he been shot? Was he hiding from the noise? Was he trying to get to me and was hurt? Was he hunkered down somewhere?

Tears and prayers, flashlights and calling his name for 30 minutes,  he finally came out of the woods!! He was unharmed, but was shaking from fear.

My heart leapt with joy! I celebrated his safe return.  God uses the Wonder Dog over and over to help me understand, in part, the wooing and calling of the lost by the Holy Ghost, and the pure joy felt in Heaven, when a lost soul, a wounded soul, a scared soul returns safely to the arms of the Father.
