“I absolutely know who I am, where I’ve come from, and where I’m going,” Jesus. I read this in The Passion Translation in John 8:14b a few days ago and I can’t stop thinking about it. He knew He was the Light of the World. What if all believers understood who we are in Christ, where we’ve come from, and where we are going? Wow! Talk about shaping culture…..I think we would change the atmosphere wherever we go, do you? It would certainly help us fulfill the first and second greatest commandment which is to love God and love others.

I don’t know about you but I want to be like Peter. People were healed just as his shadow fell across them. Now that was a follower of Christ that knew how to let the Jesus inside of him express to the fullest. I read this last night: “The person who loves his life and pampers himself will miss true life! But the one who detaches his life from this world and abandons himself to Me will find true life and enjoy it forever! If you want to be My disciple, follow Me and you will go where I am going. And if you truly follow Me as My disciple, the Father will shower His favor upon your life,” Jesus John 12:25-26  (The Passion Translation) Ok, Jesus, I’m all in!

What frustrates me is that my own “stinkin’ thinkin’” is my biggest roadblock to letting the Jesus in me express more fully. I don’t like it when I let fear of man, aka worrying about what others think, gets on my back like a 200-pound bag of trash. I want to know down to my bones who I am and where I’m going. God made me so He says I have a right to be here and He wants me here so no one else has a right to criticize what He made. I guess that means I don’t have a right to judge or critique another of God’s creation doesn’t it. Ooops!

So how do we deal with stinkin’ thinkin’ about ourselves? Here’s one thing I do. I pray like this, “Lord, I am so sorry I believe the lie that I am ___________ (fill in the blank) not wanted (for example.) I reject that lie and I believe what you say in Your word because it is the truth “that I am wholly and dearly loved.” It’s helpful to write down the truth and look at it every day until it gets in your spirit.

We all have a God-given destiny that is waiting for us. I have found that so many times God is waiting on me, not the other way around. It’s the wrong thinking that has stood in my way time and time again.

I remember hearing this saying years ago and I’ve never forgotten it, “I am me and that’s good cause God don’t make no junk.” He really doesn’t.  He loves you. He loves me. He wants to express Himself through us to the fullest. I say let’s do our best to let Him!

Love someone extra special today.

Till next time,
